Listening Too Close
You slip the big headphones over your ears and press play. The beep is louder now. It wobbles, like a bee trapped in a jar. Your heart thumps hard.
Then you see it. A cold shadow flickers in the corner of the room. It looks like the thing you feared as a little kid — long arms, no face. You know it isn't real. But your hands shake anyway.
The beep keeps going. Beep… beep… It feels like the sound is trying to tell you something. Something old. Something far, far away.
