Veteran river pilot Mara Voss is three days into a routine cargo run when a fog-shrouded tributary appears where her charts show only solid land. The current pulls her vessel in before she can correct course. The water is too still. The trees too old. And the compass needle won't stop spinning. Whatever this place is, it knows she's arrived.
