The Walking Road

You lead the Aythari westward, and never stop. Tents rise and fall; salt cities bloom and dissolve behind you. Children are born beneath stars your grandmother never charted, and they learn the drift as breath.

You die old, the compass of your blood still humming. Your people walk on — faithful, nomadic, eternal — never asking what dreams beneath their feet.
