A Song the City Sings

You tip the vial into the reservoir. Gold spirals through grey water, and below, Greyspire wakes. Laughter rises from cobbled streets like a sound the city forgot it could make. By sunrise, the Council Tower stands empty.

Iron hands find your shoulders before dawn breaks. But through the cell window, you hear it—your name, carried in a song. Grandmother would have smiled.
